The Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MoFPI) launched a centrally-sponsored scheme, the Pradhan Mantri Formalisation of Micro Food Processing Enterprises (PM FME), on June 29, 2020.
The PM FME scheme aims to empower, upgrade, and formalise the existing Micro Food Processing Enterprises (MFPEs) in the unorganised segment of the food processing industry by providing financial, technical, and business support.
In line with the Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s vision of an Aatmanirbhar Bharat, this scheme endeavours to provide a national market for local and regional products, generate employment, and bring economic stability to the people.
The MoFPI and National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation of India Ltd. (Nafed) have entered a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) wherein Nafed is leveraging its branding and marketing expertise to develop new brands and products as part of the PM FME scheme.
The PM FME scheme has adopted the One District One Product (ODOP) concept to focus on developing specific product categories for each district in India.
Pickles constitute the ODOP category for Amritsar district of Punjab. Pind Se is the brand created by Nafed for MoFPI under the PM FME scheme for developing and marketing pickled products from Amritsar.
The art of pickling was mastered by the Indians many millennia ago. A variety of vegetables, fruits, and foods were preserved in either oil, vinegar, or salt to enhance their life and minimise their chances of getting spoilt. It is hard to imagine an Indian household that does not have a bottle of their favourite vivid hued, delectable achaar placed on their dining table to rev up the flavour of their meals.
Mango Pickle
Pind Se Mango Pickle is a tempting pickle made with a traditional recipe, to give you an age-old flavour reminiscent of your grandmother’s pickle. This magic in a bottle is created using select, succulent raw mangoes and a special blend of aromatic spices. The product is handmade in small batches to maintain its quality and consistency. The perfect accompaniment to any dish, our mango pickle will enliven any meal.
MIXED PICKLE
Pind Se Mixed Pickle is a sumptuous pickle made with an age-old recipe that is bound to take you on a nostalgic trip back in time. Select mangoes, lemons, green chillies, carrots, and tenti dela, are combined with spices and dunked in mustard oil to create a symphony of flavours. This handcrafted delight in a bottle will not only add a zest to your meal, but also reconnect you with the proverbial ‘taste of home.’
Our MFPE Partners
Pind Se ODOP products (Mango Pickle and Mixed Pickle) are manufactured in MFPEs located in the Amritsar district of Punjab. Choicest ingredients are directly procured from the farmers and processed by local MFPEs. It enables them to better their income and generate more employment. It therefore becomes instrumental in helping realise our Hon’ble Prime Minister’s vision of an Aatmanirbhar Bharat. Nafed focuses on creating and marketing premium quality products that promote health and holistic wellness.
The following MFPEs, located in Amritsar district, were selected for manufacturing Pind Se products under the ODOP initiative. This initiative is generating greater business opportunities for the micro enterprises and providing them a much-needed access to the national market.
Amir Chand & Son, a well-known micro food processing company located in Amritsar was established in 1999. The owner, Mr. Surinder Kumar, is proud of the fact that his company manufactures its products without using chemicals or artificial preservatives. In addition to the ODOP Pind Se product range, they also manufacture a range of syrups, juices, pickles, murabbas, and fruit cocktail.
Ashoka Traders a micro food processing enterprise located in Amritsar was founded in 1988. Mr. Sumit Lakhesar, the company's owner, takes pride in manufacturing a diverse range of food products in compliance with the standards set by the food industry. In addition to the ODOP Pind Se product range, they also manufacture a range of pickles, murabbas, jams, vinegar, arks, and syrups.
Deluxe Food Products, a food and beverage manufacturing company, was established in 1976. Headed by its CEO Mr Rakesh Thukral, the company has a competent team of specialists who are committed to maintaining quality standards and ensuring client satisfaction at all levels. In addition to the ODOP Pind Se product range, the company is engaged manufacturing a variety of jams, sauces, squashes, sherbets, and flavoured candies.
Founded in 2022, A.S Agro Foods is a recent entrant to the market for processed foods. The company headed by Mr Dalwinder Singh Kandhari aims to introduce premium quality food products in the market. In addition to the ODOP Pind Se product range, they also manufacture a range of pickles, murabbas, and sherbets.
