The Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MoFPI) launched a centrally-sponsored scheme, the Pradhan Mantri Formalisation of Micro Food Processing Enterprises (PM FME), on June 29, 2020.
The PM FME scheme aims to empower, upgrade, and formalise the existing Micro Food Processing Enterprises (MFPEs) in the unorganised segment of the food processing industry by providing financial, technical, and business support.
In line with the Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s vision of an Aatmanirbhar Bharat, this scheme endeavours to provide a national market for local and regional products, generate employment, and bring economic stability to the people.
The MoFPI and National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation of India Ltd. (Nafed) have entered a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) wherein Nafed is leveraging its branding and marketing expertise to develop new brands and products as part of the PM FME scheme.
The PM FME scheme has adopted the One District One Product (ODOP) concept to focus on developing specific product categories for each district in India.
Honey constitutes the ODOP category for Saharanpur district of Uttar Pradesh. Madhu Mantra is the brand created by Nafed for MoFPI under the PM FME scheme for developing and marketing varieties of honey from Saharanpur.
India has been known as the ‘land of honey’ since ancient times, with references to beekeeping appearing in both ancient Buddhist texts and the Vedas. Saharanpur is a prominent beekeeping district in the state of Uttar Pradesh, producing high-quality honey that is becoming increasingly popular outside India, especially in the United States. Being a natural sweetener, honey is a great alternative to regular sugar and has many health benefits as it contains anti-aging and anti-inflammatory antioxidants such as flavonoids and phenolic acids.
Multi Flora Honey
Madhu Mantra Multiflora Honey is premium quality pure honey sourced from the honey farms of Saharanpur. It has a delightful aroma and an exquisite golden-brown colour that reflects its natural purity.

Madhu Mantra ODOP products (Multi Flora Honey and Lemon Honey) are manufactured in MFPEs located in the Saharanpur district of Uttar Pradesh. Choicest ingredients are directly procured from the farmers and processed by local MFPEs. It enables them to better their income and generate more employment. It, therefore, becomes instrumental in helping realise our Hon’ble Prime Minister’s vision of an Aatmanirbhar Bharat. Nafed focuses on creating and marketing premium quality products that promote health and holistic wellness.
The following MFPEs, located in Saharanpur district, were selected for manufacturing Madhu Mantra products under the ODOP initiative. This initiative is generating greater business opportunities for the micro enterprises and providing them a much-needed access to the national market.
Established in 1991 by Mr. Devi Dutt, Shiv Gramoudyog Sansthan is a registered and accredited enterprise that produces honeybee products, including tools and equipment for beekeepers. In addition to manufacturing the Madhu Mantra product range, the venture focuses on manufacturing a wide variety of honey products, including raw honey, mustard honey, eucalyptus honey, and blackberry honey. Additionally, the company also manufactures a fusion line of products such as Murabba with Honey, Apple Cider Honey Vinegar, and Honey Gulkand.
Mr. Manoj Upadhyay founded Pragati Monpalan Kendra in 1997. In addition to manufacturing the Madhu Mantra product range, the enterprise manufactures a variety of pickles and vinegar using high-quality ingredients. Mr. Upadhyay places a premium on the quality of the products manufactured in the enterprise.
Mr. Kushal Pal founded Prachi Food Products in 2021. The enterprise solely manufactures ODOP products – Multiflora Honey and Lemon Honey. Mr. Pal ensures that the ODOP products are of premium quality.
Established in 2020 by Mr. Ashish Kumar, Bharat Monpalan Kendra specialises in processing honey. In addition to manufacturing the Madhu Mantra product range, the enterprise also manufactures a premium equipment line that includes beehive separator and beeswax machine. Mr. Kumar ensures that the products developed in his company are of high quality.
Mr. Mayank Upaddhyay founded Mayank Natural Honey & Bee Farm in 2018. In addition to manufacturing the Madhu Mantra product range, the enterprise manufactures raw honey and its various varieties. Additionally, it is also engaged in the production of beehive boxes.
