The Dilli Bakes Story

The Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MoFPI) launched a centrally-sponsored scheme, the Pradhan Mantri Formalisation of Micro Food Processing Enterprises (PM FME), on June 29, 2020.

The PM FME scheme aims to empower, upgrade, and formalise the existing Micro Food Processing Enterprises (MFPEs) in the unorganised segment of the food processing industry by providing financial, technical, and business support.

In line with the Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s vision of an Aatmanirbhar Bharat, this scheme endeavours to provide a national market for local and regional products, generate employment, and bring economic stability to the people.

The MoFPI and National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation of India Ltd. (Nafed) have entered a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) wherein Nafed is leveraging its branding and marketing expertise to develop new brands and products as part of the PM FME scheme.

The PM FME scheme has adopted the One District One Product (ODOP) concept to focus on developing specific product categories for each district in India.

Bakery constitutes the ODOP category for Delhi region. Dilli Bakes is the brand created by Nafed for MoFPI under the PM FME scheme for developing and marketing bakery products from the Delhi.

The evolution of bakery tradition in Delhi can be traced to the colonial period. Influenced by the conventional British style baked goods, careful observers picked up the nuances of baking various kinds of breads, cakes, and biscuits as well as other bakery delicacies and savouries, and passed on the craft to their descendants. Delhi is home to many historical bakeries.

Milk rusk, a twice baked crusty, crispy, and crunchy bread enjoys immense popularity across cultures and continents. Dilli Bakes Whole Wheat Cookies is a healthy take on the Atta cookies we have relished since our childhood. These premium, artisanal style cookies are made with whole wheat flour and jaggery. They are great on their own and irresistible when dunked in a cup of tea, coffee, or milk.

Product manufacturing

Dilli Bakes ODOP products (Whole Wheat Milk Rusk and Whole Wheat Cookies) are manufactured in MFPEs located in the region of Delhi. Choicest ingredients are directly procured from the farmers and processed by local MFPEs. It enables them to better their income and generate more employment. It therefore becomes instrumental in helping realise our Hon’ble Prime Minister’s vision of an Aatmanirbhar Bharat. Nafed focuses on creating and marketing premium quality products that promote health and holistic wellness.

The following MFPEs, located in the region of Delhi, were selected for manufacturing Dilli Bakes products under the ODOP initiative. This initiative is generating greater business opportunities for the micro enterprises and providing them much-needed access to the national market.

Vinod Food Products

Vinod Food Products, Delhi was established in 1985 by Mr Shiv Narayan Yadav. In addition to manufacturing the ODOP Dilli Bakes product range, the micro enterprise is engaged in manufacturing a range of bakery & confectionery products, soan papdi, suji toast, and flavourful namkeens.

Anvit Food Products

Anvit Food Products, Delhi was founded by Mr Ankur Kamal in 2020. In addition to manufacturing the ODOP Dilli Bakes product range, the micro enterprise is engaged in manufacturing a range of high-quality bakery products like rusks, biscuits, and fan.

KRAFTIVITY – THE ART TO CREATE

Kraftivity – The Art to Create, an authorised training partner for the Food Safety Training & Certification Programme (FoSTaC) of the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI), was established by in 2017. The company’s proprietor, Ms. Tarasha Kaur, is an enthusiastic trainer and a creative individual who has developed numerous recipes in the field of baking. In addition to manufacturing the ODOP Dilli Bakes product range, the enterprise is engaged in manufacturing a range of high-quality bakery products like cakes, breads, chocolates, and savoury treats.

PALJEES FOOD INDUSTRY

Paljees Food Industries has been delighting it clients with sumptuous eggless bakery treats since 2011. Ably guided by his father Mr Kamal Paljee Chaddha, the company’s current proprietor Mr Krishna Paljee Chaddha takes pride in ensuring consistency in taste and quality of their products. In addition to manufacturing the ODOP Dilli Bakes product range, the company manufactures a variety of eggless cookies, biscuits, dry cakes, and suji rusks.

N R FOODS

N R Foods, Delhi was founded by Mr Rakesh Kumar in 2007 with the idea of providing healthy baked goods to the customers. In addition to manufacturing the ODOP Dilli Bakes product range, the micro enterprise specialises in manufacturing a range of bakery products such as rusks, cakes, and biscuits.

KRISHNA FOODS

Krishna Foods, Delhi was founded by Ms. Sudesh Rani in 2013. In addition to manufacturing the ODOP Dilli Bakes product range, the micro enterprise specialises in manufacturing a wide range of items such as honey, pickles, biscuits, and cookies in a variety of flavours.

R B PRODUCTS

Founded by Late Sh. R. M. Pherwani, R B Products has been in the bakery business since 1965. Ably led by Mr Shrey Pherwani, the company manufactures an array of baked products and retails under the established brand name Avon. In addition to manufacturing the ODOP Dilli Bakes product range, the company manufactures an assortment of rusks, puffs & marori, cakes, cupcakes, eggless cookies & biscuits, and namkeens.

RITU’S COOK & BAKE HUB

Ms. Ritu Sudhakar launched Ritu's Cook & Bake Hub in 2014. In addition to manufacturing the ODOP Dilli Bakes product range, the micro enterprise is engaged in manufacturing a variety of baked treats ranging from cakes, chocolates, nutritious cakes and cookies, marshmallows, granola, and an assortment of bakery items.

KRISHNAV SKILLS & MARKETING

Mr. Abhitesh Kumar founded Krishnav Skills & Marketing in 2020. In addition to manufacturing the ODOP Dilli Bakes product range, the company is engaged in manufacturing an array of premium quality breads, cookies, rusks, and cakes.
